English draughts (イングリッシュ・ドラフツ)のルール
誰もが知っているチェッカー——8×8、片側12枚。
English draughts——アメリカでいうcheckers——はチェスと同じ8×8の盤で、濃いマスだけを使い、片側12枚で指します。駒はキングになるまで斜め前へ動き、斜め前へ取ります。取れるときは必ず取らねばならず、それがこのゲームを見た目よりずっと鋭くしています。

コンピュータと対戦
手番と強さ——Easy、Medium、Hard——を選んでEnglish draughts (イングリッシュ・ドラフツ)をオフラインで。対局はブラウザに、中断したままの形で残ります。
オンラインで、時計付き
盤を作り、色を選び、1分から60分の時計を——あるいは時計なしを——設定してコードを共有。時計は手番の側だけが進みます。
2Dでも3Dでも
盤を寝かせても、起こしても。駒はそれぞれのマスに立ち上がり、対局の途中でも切り替えられます。
7種の盤、7種の駒
クラシックのフェルト、ルネサンスの大理石、石器時代の砂岩、氷河、ジュラ紀の琥珀、潮だまり、中世の石室——プレイ中に変更できます。

🎲 English draughts (イングリッシュ・ドラフツ)の準備
- 盤は8×8で、使うのは濃いマスだけです。
- 各自、自分に近い3段の濃いマスに12枚を並べます。
- 中央の2段は空けておきます。
- 先手は黒です。

- 駒は斜め前へ1マス、空いている濃いマスに動きます。
- 相手の駒を斜め前に飛び越え、すぐ先の空きマスに着地して取ります。
- 取れるときは必ず取ります。跳べるのに跳ばない手は反則です。
- 同じ駒が跳び続けられるかぎり連続して跳び、その一連すべてが1手です。
- 取り方が2通り以上あるときはどれを選んでもかまいません——最多を取る規則はありません。
- 最奥の段で止まった駒はキングになり、たとえもう一度跳べたとしても、その手はそこで終わります。
- キングは斜め4方向に1マスずつ動き、同じように取ります。

Why compulsory capture changes everything
- You do not choose whether to take — only which take, when there is more than one.
- That makes a sacrifice a tool: offer a man, and your opponent must accept, arriving on the square you wanted them on.
- A two-for-one is the commonest pattern in the game. Give a man, force the jump, and jump back over two.
- Before offering anything, follow the chain to its end — the jump they are forced into may keep going.
Crowning, and the endgame
- A man crowned on the far row stops there for that move. The new king plays from the next turn.
- A king that moves backwards can defend and attack at once, and one king is usually worth two men.
- Three kings beat one in the open by driving it to an edge; two kings against one is a draw.
- The double corner — the pair of dark squares at the right-hand end of your back row — is the safest place for a lone king to run to.
