Euchre

Name the trump. Take three tricks. Prove your Right Bower.

👥 4 players (2 teams) · Hard difficulty

Euchre is a fast trick-taking partnership game enormously popular in the US Midwest, Canada, and UK. The defining feature: the Jack of trump (Right Bower) is highest, and the Jack of the same-colour suit (Left Bower) is second highest.

🎯 Objective

First team to 10 points wins by winning at least 3 of 5 tricks after naming trump.

🃏 Setup

  1. Uses a 24-card deck: 9, 10, J, Q, K, A of each suit. Deal 5 cards each.
  2. Flip the remaining card — this proposes the trump suit.

▶ How to Play

  1. ORDERING UP: Each player (left of dealer first) may accept the flipped suit as trump or pass. If accepted, dealer picks up the card and discards one.
  2. If all pass, a second round names any other suit or passes again.
  3. Trump ranking (high→low): Right Bower (J of trump) > Left Bower (J same-colour) > A > K > Q > 10 > 9.
  4. Left Bower is NO LONGER part of its original suit.
  5. Caller's team must win ≥ 3 tricks; "going alone" allowed for bigger rewards.

📊 Scoring

Made (3–4 tricks): 1 pt. March (5 tricks): 2 pts. Euchred (caller fails): opponents get 2 pts. Going alone + march: 4 pts.
