Tiến Lên ("moving up" in Vietnamese) is Vietnam's most popular card game and one of the most-played games across Southeast Asia. Like Big Two, players race to shed cards; the unique twist is that 2s are the highest single card and powerful "bombs" can beat any combination.

- Use a standard 52-card deck. Deal 13 cards to each player, with 2 to 4 at the table.
- Card rank (low → high): 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 J Q K A 2.
- Suit rank (low → high): ♠ ♣ ♦ ♥.
- The player with 3♠ leads first (and must include it in their opening play).

- Lead with any legal combination: single, pair, triple, or 5-card hand (sequence, flush, full house, four-of-a-kind, straight flush).
- Each subsequent player must beat the current play with a HIGHER combination of the SAME type.
- Passing is allowed; if all others pass the last player who played starts a new free lead.
- BOMBS: A four-of-a-kind or a double pair run (3 consecutive pairs) beats ANY combination — even a 2.
- A single 2 can only be beaten by a four-of-a-kind or double pair run bomb.

Setting up the game
- Tien Len seats 2 to 4 players, and each player is dealt thirteen cards.
- Ranks run 3 as the lowest through to 2 as the highest, and suits break ties in the order spades, clubs, diamonds, hearts.
- The player holding the lowest card in the deal leads first, which is normally the three of spades.
- The aim is simply to be the first to shed every card.
Playing a combination
- The leader may play a single card, a pair, a triple, or a five-card combination such as a straight or a full house.
- Everyone after them must play the same shape, only higher, or pass.
- Passing removes you from the current trick entirely — you cannot rejoin it even if you later wish you had played.
- When everyone has passed, the table clears and whoever played last leads a fresh combination of their choice.
Twos and bombs
- The 2 is the highest single card in the game and normally beats anything played as a single.
- Bombs are the exception. Four of a kind beats a lone 2 outright, and can also take out a pair of 2s.
- That makes holding 2s powerful but not safe, and it makes collecting four of a kind worth the effort.
- Because passing locks you out of a trick, timing a bomb is as important as holding one.
Winning
- The first player to play their final card wins the hand.
- Count your escape route before you start shedding — a hand with one unplayable low card can strand you at the end.
- Leading long straights early tends to be efficient, because they are hard for opponents to match.
- Keeping one high single in reserve gives you a way to seize control late in the hand.

First player to go out wins. Penalty points: cards remaining = point penalty. Sweep penalty (holding all 13 cards when another player goes out) = doubled penalty.
