Sleep

Collect four of a kind, then call it — the last one awake loses.

👥 2–6 players · Dificultad fácil

Sleep is a fast, chaotic passing game with no winner — only a loser. Cards circulate around the table one at a time while everyone hunts for four of a kind. The moment somebody gets it and calls "Sleep!", every other player drops what they are doing and races to call it too. The last player still awake loses the round.

🎯 Objetivo

Collect four cards of the same rank and call Sleep — or, once someone else has, call it before everyone but one.

🃏 Preparación y reglas de Sleep

  1. Use a standard 52-card deck. Sleep seats 2 to 6 players.
  2. Deal four cards to every player. Everyone looks at their own hand.
  3. The rest of the deck sits face-down as the stock, next to the first player in seat order.
  4. Only rank matters. Suits are irrelevant from start to finish.

▶ Cómo jugar Sleep

  1. The lead seat draws the top card of the stock, bringing their hand to five.
  2. They then pass one card of the five to the next player, keeping four.
  3. Every other player does the same in turn: take the card passed to you, then pass one of your five on.
  4. Cards passed on by the final seat go to a trash pile, which is reshuffled back into the stock when it runs dry.
  5. Cards move continuously, so a rank you have been collecting can vanish as fast as it arrived.
  6. As soon as you hold four of a kind, call Sleep.

🎬 Vídeo: cómo jugar Sleep

Filmed under the name Pig, which is what this game is usually called away from the app — same deal of four cards, same passing to the next player, same race once someone has four of a kind. Vanikar simply calls it Sleep.

📖 Guía detallada

Setting up the round

  • Sleep seats 2 to 6 players and uses a single standard deck.
  • Every player is dealt four cards, and the remainder becomes a face-down stock beside the lead seat.
  • The lead seat is simply the first awake player in seat order — it is not an advantage so much as a job.
  • Because only rank matters, four Kings of any suits is exactly as good as any other four of a kind.

How cards circulate

  • Only the lead seat touches the stock. They draw the top card, which briefly gives them five cards.
  • They then choose one of those five to pass to the next player, going back down to four.
  • Everyone else receives a card from the player before them and passes one on in the same way, so every hand stays at four between turns.
  • Whatever the last seat passes on goes to the trash pile rather than back round, and the trash is reshuffled into the stock when the stock empties.

Calling Sleep

  • The first player to hold four cards of the same rank calls Sleep.
  • That call opens the race. From that moment nobody else needs four of a kind — everyone still awake is simply trying to call Sleep before the others.
  • So the biggest mistake in the game is watching your own cards so intently that you miss somebody else's call.
  • Players who call successfully are safe, and the round continues among whoever is left.

Losing the round

  • The last player still awake when everyone else has called is the loser of the round.
  • There is no winner as such — everyone else simply escaped, which is the same shape as Old Maid or Indian Jackass.
  • Rounds are short, so the game is normally played as a long series with the losses tallied.
  • Passing fast is a genuine tactic: the quicker cards move, the more likely a distracted opponent misses the call.

📊 Puntuación de Sleep

There is no score to accumulate — each round produces one loser, the last player left awake. Play as many rounds as you like and track who has been caught most often.
