🎯 Objetivo
Be the first to discard all your cards.
🃏 Preparación y reglas de Ochos Locos
- Use a standard 52-card deck. Deal 7 cards each in a two-player game, or 5 cards each with three or more.
- Flip one card face-up to start the discard pile; place the draw pile beside it.
▶ Cómo jugar Ochos Locos
- On your turn, play one card from your hand onto the discard pile. It must match the current card's suit OR rank.
- If you cannot play, draw cards from the draw pile until you can play or the pile is exhausted (then pass).
- Playing an 8 is always legal — after playing it, name any suit. The next player must match that suit (or play another 8).
- Optional special cards: Q = skip next player; A = reverse direction; 2 = next player draws 2.
- First player to empty their hand wins.

📖 Guía detallada
Setup and the deal
- Crazy Eights uses a standard 52-card deck and seats 2 to 8 players. Deal 5 cards each with three or more players, or 7 in a two-player game.
- Turn one card face-up to start the discard pile and place the rest face-down as the draw pile.
- The aim is simply to be first to shed every card in your hand.
- If the starting card is an 8, bury it and turn another so the hand does not begin with a wild card.
Playing a card
- On your turn, play one card that matches the top of the discard pile by either suit or rank.
- If you cannot match, draw from the pile until you find a playable card, then play it. When the draw pile is empty and you still cannot play, your turn simply passes.
- Only the top card matters, so the suit in play changes constantly — a hand that looked unplayable a moment ago can open up.
- Shed high-value cards early. Anything you are still holding when someone goes out is counted against you.
The power of eights
- Any 8 can be played at any time, regardless of the suit or rank showing. This is the rule the whole game is built around.
- After playing an 8, you name the suit that the next player must follow, so an 8 is both an escape and a weapon.
- Call the suit you hold most of, or the one you suspect an opponent is void in.
- Hold at least one 8 in reserve rather than spending them early — an 8 is your guaranteed escape when the suit turns against you.
Going out and scoring
- The first player to shed every card wins the hand and the others count what remains in their hands.
- Penalty values: each 8 costs 50, face cards 10, Aces 1, and every other card its face value.
- Play to an agreed total, commonly 100 or 200 points. The player with the lowest score when someone crosses it wins the game.
- Many tables add special cards — 2s forcing a draw, Queens skipping the next player, Aces reversing direction. Agree which are in play before you start.
📊 Puntuación de Ochos Locos
The winner scores the deadwood in opponents' hands: 8s = 50 pts, face cards = 10 pts, Aces = 1 pt, others = face value. Play to 200 (or an agreed total).
