How to Play TriPeaks Solitaire

Clear three peaks by playing cards one up or one down.

Also known as TriPeaks · Tri Peaks · Tri-Peaks · Three Peaks

👥 1 player · Easy difficulty

Learn TriPeaks: 28 cards in three peaks cleared onto the waste one rank up or down in any suit, aces and kings as neighbors, a stock with no redeal. Work through one chain, then play in your browser.

A chain round the corner

Q♠K♦A♣2♥K♣

The waste shows the Q♠ and the bottom row holds the K♦, A♣, 2♥ and K♣ uncovered. Play the K♦ on the Q♠, the A♣ on the K♦ (ace and king are neighbors), then the 2♥ on the A♣: 3 cards without a draw. The K♣ cannot follow a 2, so if nothing else fits, turn a stock card. Either king could have started the chain; take the one that uncovers a face-down card.

What plays on the waste card

7♣Any 6 or any 8
A♠Any 2 or any king
K♥Any queen or any ace
10♦Any 9 or any jack; the 10♠ does not

A card covered by any card in the row below cannot move until both cards on it are gone. The stock goes through once with no redeal; the deal is lost when it is empty and nothing fits, and Undo takes moves back as often as you like.

🎯 Objective

Play all 28 cards of the three peaks onto the waste pile before the stock runs out. If you don't finish, your score is the cards cleared.

🃏 TriPeaks Solitaire Setup & Rules

  1. One standard 52-card deck, no jokers. The app deals 28 cards into three overlapping peaks: a top row of 3, then rows of 6 and 9, and a bottom row of 10.
  2. The bottom row is face up; every other card is face down until the two cards covering it are gone.
  3. One card starts the waste pile and the other 23 are the face-down stock. It is a solitaire for one, with no setup options, no other seats to fill and no app opponents.

▶ How to Play TriPeaks Solitaire

  1. Tap an uncovered card to play it onto the waste when it is one rank above or below the waste's top card, whatever the suit: a 7 goes on a 6 or an 8.
  2. An ace and a king are neighbors, so a king or a 2 goes on an ace and an ace or a queen on a king; the chain wraps around.
  3. Each card you play becomes the new waste card, so you can chain plays up and down, such as 9, 10, J, 10, 9.
  4. A face-down card turns face up as soon as both cards covering it are gone.
  5. Tap the stock to turn its next card onto the waste at any time, whether or not a play is available. The stock goes through once; there is no redeal.
  6. Auto makes the move the app's own policy would make, Undo takes back the last move, and Give up ends the deal as a loss.

📖 Detailed Guide

Setting up your table

  • From the game menu choose TriPeaks. It is a solitaire for one, so there are no other seats to fill and no app opponents.
  • TriPeaks has no setup options: no deal number to enter, no wrap-around toggle, no timer and no scoring variant. The deal starts at once.
  • The app shuffles one 52-card deck and deals 28 cards into three overlapping peaks, in rows of 3, 6, 9 and 10; only the 10 cards of the bottom row are face up.
  • One card is turned up to start the waste pile and the other 23 are the face-down stock.

Playing to the waste

  • Tap an uncovered, face-up card to play it onto the waste. It must be one rank above or one rank below the waste's top card; suits and colors never matter.
  • An ace and a king are neighbors: a king or a 2 goes on an ace, an ace or a queen on a king. This is always on in the app.
  • A card covered by any card in the row below cannot move. It turns face up by itself once both cards on it are gone.
  • Each card played becomes the new waste card, so a chain can run up and down as long as cards fit.

The stock

  • Tap the stock to turn its next card onto the waste. You may do this at any time, even when a play is available.
  • The stock holds 23 cards and goes through once: there is no redeal and the waste is never turned over.
  • Auto plays one move of the app's own policy each time you tap it; Undo takes back the last move, as many times as you like.
  • Give up ends the deal where it stands, scored as the cards cleared so far.

Ending the deal

  • You win when all 28 cards of the peaks are on the waste, whatever is left in the stock; the summary shows how many moves it took.
  • The deal is lost when the stock is empty and no uncovered card fits the waste. Your score is the cards cleared, out of 28.
  • There is no chain scoring and no bonus for a peak: only the cards cleared count.
  • Play again deals a fresh random layout; there is no deal number to replay one.

📊 TriPeaks Solitaire Scoring

You win when all 28 cards of the peaks are on the waste, and the summary counts your moves. The deal is lost when the stock is empty and no uncovered card fits the waste; your score is the cards cleared, out of 28. There are no chain bonuses, no points, no timer and no deal number: the app shuffles a fresh layout every time.

❓ TriPeaks Solitaire — Frequently Asked Questions

How many players do you need for TriPeaks Solitaire?

TriPeaks Solitaire is a solitaire game for one player — just you and the deck.

Do aces and kings connect in the app's TriPeaks?

Yes, always: an ace and a king are neighbors, so a king or a 2 goes on an ace and an ace or a queen goes on a king. There is no setting to turn the wrap-around off.

Can you draw from the stock in TriPeaks when a play is available?

Yes. Tap the stock at any time to turn its next card onto the waste. The stock holds 23 cards and goes through only once; there is no redeal, so draw only when the table has nothing better.

When does a face-down card turn up in TriPeaks?

As soon as both cards covering it have been played to the waste. Only the 10 cards of the bottom row start face up; the rows of 9, 6 and 3 above them turn up as the cards on them go.

What ends a TriPeaks deal?

Winning, when all 28 cards of the peaks are on the waste, or losing, when the stock is empty and no uncovered card is 1 rank above or below the waste card. Give up ends it early. Either way the score is the cards cleared, out of 28, and a win also counts your moves; there are no chain bonuses.
