High Card is the simplest card game there is. Here it is in the Vanikar app. Everyone at the table gets one card, face down. Choose how many players, and the target score. Eleven points is the usual match. Start the game. Turn your card over. The computer players reveal theirs. Ace is high, two is low, and suits don't matter. The highest card wins the round and scores one point. If two players tie for highest, they both score. Next round. The whole deck is shuffled, and everyone gets a new card. The first player to the target score wins the match. That's all there is to it. Pure luck, which makes it a fair game for any age. Find High Card, and fifty-eight more card games, at vanikar.games.

📖 Detailed Guide

Setting up your table

  • From the game menu choose High Card, then pick 2–6 seats. Fill empty seats with AI players using "+ Add AI Player".
  • Set "Max Points" — the match target, from 5 to 21 in steps of 2 (11 by default). The first player to reach it wins the whole match, so a higher target means a longer game.
  • Tap "Start Game", then the dealer taps Deal: the app shuffles a single deck and deals one card face down to every player. The first seat deals every round — the dealer never rotates.

Playing a round

  • Tap "Reveal" to turn your card over; the other players reveal theirs in turn.
  • Cards rank Ace high down to 2 low; suits don't matter. Once every card is face up, the highest wins the round.
  • The winner scores 1 point, shown on their seat.

Ties

  • If two or more players tie for highest, they share the round: each of them scores the point.

Winning the match

  • After each round the app names the winner and shows everyone's totals. Tap OK, then the dealer taps Deal and a fresh round is dealt from a reshuffled deck.
  • Rounds repeat until someone reaches the Max Points target set at the table — they win the match.

📊 High Card Scoring

One point to the winner of each round. The first player to reach the target score wins the match.

❓ High Card — Frequently Asked Questions

How many players do you need for High Card?

High Card is played with 2–6 players. On Vanikar, empty seats can be filled with AI opponents so you can always start a game.

What happens on a tie in High Card?

When two or more players turn the same rank, suits do not break it: the tied players draw again, and the higher card of that draw takes the round. Only the players who tied draw again.

Does High Card use jokers?

No. A standard 52-card deck, Ace high. Each round every player turns one card; the deck is reshuffled when it runs out.

How long is a game of High Card?

A round takes seconds, so the target score sets the length: a target of 5 is a two-minute game, 20 a longer match in which the luck evens out. You choose the target at setup.

Is High Card a good first card game for children?

Yes. There are no decisions and nothing to read but the rank, so a child who can tell a 9 from a 10 can play, and an adult has no advantage.
